Congress Twelve Step Program

To defeat an addiction requires a serious commitment and solid
plan to achieve the objective...no longer being dependent on
whatever you are dependent on.

For the American people to realize the fulfillment of the dream
of our Founders, a truly representative democracy they need
to see meaningful changes in how our nation is governed.

The apparatus that governs our nation is the legislature,
which the people we elect, the Congress runs.

Dismantling the structural elements is the first step to
loosen the tight hold Congress has on our governance.

So, these are the Twelve Steps which need to be taken to ensure the American people the governance of our nation remains in their hands and not that of a political class.

1. Congressional districts needs to redrawn based on geography, population and practicality, without regard for race, or other criteria.

2. Congressional terms will be changed to four years.

3. State legislatures will determine the number of Congressional terms.

4. An independent board will set compensation, expenses and other benefits
of the Congress.

5. Pensions for members of Congress will be eliminated.

II. Funding Changes:

6 Only individuals will be allowed to contribute to political contributions.

7. Campaign funds may not be transferred to other campaigns.

8. Unspent campaign funds cannot be retained after an election, and must be turned over to the Federal  Election Commission.

III. Legislative Process:

9. Each party will have an equal number of members on all committees.

10. The number of Congressional committees (over 150) and caucuses (over 250)
will be reduced to eliminate redundancy.

11. Only Congress will write legislation.

12. No legislation can be voted on between election day and the new Congress takes office.

III. Limiting  Federal Governance:

13. Federal funds will not be withheld from states for any reason.

14. Education will be the responsibility of the states, no longer be required to meet Federal standards at the risk of losing funds.

15. Department of Transportation  will limit its authority over highways not part of the Interstate Highway system, as this will be the responsibility of the states.

16. Federal land within states, except for national parks and government agencies will be deeded to the states.

A model to win the battle is the popular
desire to
These are the original Twelve Steps as published by Alcoholics Anonymous:[10]
  1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.
  2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
  4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
  5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
  7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
  8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

6. Congress will not authorize 'independent" commissions to do the work THEY should do.
